“Years To Come” is our first installation with an emphasis on material and history.
This hat is made from Barkcloth which is considered “deadstock” — the idea is to bring
a contemporary eye to something drifting into obscurity. Think new vintage.
The thick, slubby cotton material has a rough surface reminiscent of tree bark, hence
the name. Barkcloth rose to popularity in the 1950s, but has roots dating back centuries
to when the textile was fabricated from the actual bark of certain trees. As is the nature
of this textile and production process, each hat is unique.
Made in New York.
